My love for the reverse sourcing strategy came rather quickly. After struggling for 3-4 months trying to make wholesale work I came across this sourcing strategy. At that point, I had tried a handful of different sourcing methods like “tradeshow no show”, finding as many random distributors I could but ended up with nothing to show for my hard work.
When you compare the dozens of wholesale sourcing strategies out there today only one stands out from the rest and that’s reverse sourcing.
What Is Wholesale Reverse Sourcing?
As the name tells reverse sourcing is doing things in reverse. Where many new sellers start sourcing OFF of Amazon.com to find suppliers, we start ON Amazon.com.
The reason we do this is that we decrease the number of suppliers we need to work with to find profitable suppliers. You could easily get approved for 20+ suppliers today, but how can you ensure they will have products you can actually carry?
Sounds like a wasteful process doesn’t it?
With reverse sourcing, we’re only reaching out to suppliers who we know have at least 1 product we’re interested in carrying, making it worth our time and effort to reach out for an account.
Here’s a video of me using the reverse sourcing strategy live:
Did you notice how easy that was? We were able to start from the main page of Amazon and work our way down to a handful of interesting products that fit 90%+ of our buying criteria. Assuming we can get decent pricing it’s an easy win.
Imagine being able to sit down for two hours per day and easily come out with 10+ suppliers to reach out to with a 70%+ success rate. Would that change anything for you or your business?
Why Reverse Sourcing Works
As I mentioned above the reverse wholesale sourcing strategy is incredibly straightforward. At its core it allows a seller to quickly start adding profitable suppliers week after week.
Even better, it allows brand new sellers to get up and running without a steep learning curve. In fact, 98%+ of Vendrive users exclusively use this sourcing method to start and grow their wholesale businesses while working full-time jobs or caring for a family.
Because this strategy is easy to learn and apply it’s also just as easy to outsource. So many of our users actively employ virtual assistants to source for them that we’re currently developing a virtual assistant account feature for our users.
In fact, here’s a recent VA sourcing job post we came across with Vendrive as one of the main requirements…
You can you immediately reduce how many hours you’re actively sourcing, get better results, and outsource the whole process. This new found freedom allows you to build better relationships with your suppliers, make important phone calls to new suppliers and quickly take a supplier from lead to profitable.
Where would your wholesale business be in the next month or two with the right systems in place?
